Sending a message of Love, Peace, and Harmony to Building a safe and better community together

In the fiscal year 2023 (July 1st, 2022 - June 30, 2023), NEPCA promoted building a safe and better community together. We wish to bring people from different ethnic backgrounds together in the spirit of love, peace, and harmony.

Our volunteers have designed and printed and distributed stickers, T-shirts, and bags with the slogans, “Building a safe community together”, “Building a safe and better community together”, “Love, peace and harmony”.

Facing unrest in society, people have been blaming the government, the police, China, immigrants, etc. The norm has been blaming everyone else for any problem. We should reflect on the problem and see that we all participate in creating our world the way it is. We sowed the seeds and collected the fruits in a collective common karma. Social issues cannot be solved by one side because to improve our environment, there is no shortcut, but people have to work together in a collective effort to build a better world for us and future generations.

NEPCA has increased collaboration with our diverse network of community service partners from various cultures and ethnicities to organize outreach events together. NEPCA has hosted and participated in 37 community service outreach events this fiscal year, helping underserved communities across ethnicities in Northeast Philadelphia. By working side by side and fostering an environment of inclusivity and acceptance, we bring people closer to each other and establish a sense of belonging for individuals from multicultural ethnic backgrounds. Every small step taken together will ultimately lead us to our shared goal as long as we unite. By educating ourselves, speaking out against hate, and embracing diversity and inclusion, we can make a positive difference in the lives of individuals within the Asian Community in Philadelphia and contribute to a society that celebrates and supports everyone, regardless of their background.

Every small step of reaching out and embracing the larger community, we assist Chinese community members in building confidence to face hate crimes and adjust to mainstream culture. In the face of the recent surge in hate crimes and discrimination against the Asian community, our slogan promoting love, peace, and harmony becomes even more crucial as a powerful message that everyone deserves to live without fear or discrimination.

There is plenty of work and challenges to overcome. Still, we believe that by promoting collaboration and community involvement, we will be able to bridge the gap between ethnic groups and foster compassion and understanding. Together, we can create a better future for us all to enjoy.

NEPCA’s Singing Pigeon

NEPCA uses the lovely cartoon pigeon as a lively symbol of our effort to spread love, peace, and harmony to build a better community together.

These values are essential because they cultivate compassion, respect, and unity, encouraging us to unite and foster a safe environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and secure. They enable individuals to foster understanding and empathy to rise above differences and conflicts and be kinder to each other.

Embracing Love, Peace, and Harmony is essential in sustaining a strong, welcoming community. Together, these elements create a nurturing and safe space where individuals can flourish, their voices heard, and their aspirations supported. They are the building blocks to a better community!
